Why do you have to enter my bank/card details into the Steady platform?
Riposte has partnered with Steady to bring our memberships to life. Steady is a trusted membership provider based out of Berlin. They work with the likes of gal-dem, Polyester, Hole and Corner, The Quietus and Gay Times on their membership platforms. You can read more about them here.
Monthly payments to Steady will show on your statement and you will be given the ref that will appear on your bank statement once you’ve confirmed your membership.
Can I pay an annual membership?
At the minute we are only offering monthly subscriptions but payments are taken by direct debit so once you’re set up you don’t need to do anything else?
Can I cancel my membership at any time?
Yes, we’re not your gym and we won’t make it hard for you to leave. Save the confirmation email you received from Steady when you ordered your membership, in that email, there’s a button to “manage your membership”. Click on that and simply press cancel membership.
Alternatively, if you created a Steady account log onto that and cancel your subscription. If you have any issues email studio@ripostemagazine.com and we can help you out.
What is the monthly digital magazine?
Each month we will release a collection of articles, interviews and photographic stories that relate to one theme. This content will available only to our supporters. We will still be publishing our bi-annual print magazine which will feature new, exclusively commissioned work.
Are you still going to be printing a physical magazine?
Yes! We love print and we’re excited to release our next issue. Printing copies of Riposte will launch in April and October and shipped direct to Betty membership holders.
What will the monthly events be?
From May 2021 we will be hosting online discussions and lectures from a wide range of fascinating speakers. These will be available for members worldwide. The topics will link to the theme of that month’s digital edition. We will be moving these online events to physical venues. Once we’re allowed to be together the event formats will range from panel discussions, dinners, workshops and parties.
Erica and Betty supporters will be invited to register for free tickets and supporters who opt for the Nelly package will be given the opportunity to buy tickets to each event 24 hours before they go on sale to the general public.
Betty supporters will also be offered free tickets to exclusive launches and events outside of the monthly programme.
Once we return to physical events they will be recorded and made available digitally via our website.
What do you mean by bi-annual limited-edition print? Will this be posted to me?
Twice a year, in collaboration with an artist or designer we will be printing a limited number of prints. They will feature specially commissioned work and will be offered free to Erica and Betty supporters. They will be shipped direct to your door as soon as we release them in April and October.
I already have an annual subscription but I’m thinking of buying a Betty membership. How many copies of the print magazine will I get?
We will refund your annual subscription and you will get two copies of Riposte twice a year to your door as part of the Betty membership.
What are the mentor sessions?
Each quarter the Riposte team will offer mentoring sessions that you can book online for free as part of the Betty membership package. These sessions will be 30 minutes slots over zoom or via a phone call where we will offer advice on the aspects of your career that you’re looking to evolve. Our areas of expertise include photography, starting out in the photography industry, publishing, creating your own platform, PR, commissioning, developing pitch ideas and pitching as a freelancer. We will also be inviting guest mentors to join us later in the year. A full breakdown of the areas we can help with will be offered when the sessions are released.
